British Civil Rights Movement:

There was a Civil Rights Movement in Britain too, in response to the racism and discrimination Black and Brown people faced in their daily lives. A key example of this is the Bristol Bus Boycott, 1963, when, inspired by Martin Luther King, Black campaigners Roy Hackett, Owen Henry and Paul Stephenson, led a peaceful protest against the Bristol Omnibus Company, knowing they denied employment to non-white people (known as a 'colour bar'). The boycott drew world attention and forced the company to eventually reverse their racist policy. Racial discrimination is now illegal in the UK, and these civil and human rights are afforded to every man, woman and child.

Rosa Parks

Rosa Louise McCauley Parks (February 4, 1913 – October 24, 2005) was an American activist in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery bus boycott. The United States Congress has honoured her as "the first lady of civil rights" and "the mother of the freedom movement".(SOURCE Wikipedia)
